NDIS & Third-Party Funded Physiotherapy Hervey Bay

Physiotherapy That Helps You Stay Strong, Independent And Doing The Things That Matter

Whether you're accessing physiotherapy through the NDIS, Support at Home, DVA, Medicare or WorkCover, our focus is simple: helping you move better, build confidence and improve your quality of life.

Navigating funding systems can feel like a job in itself. Most of the people we meet across Hervey Bay, Pialba and the Fraser Coast aren't quite sure what services they're entitled to, where physiotherapy fits in, or how to make the most of the support they have. Add the paperwork on top, and it's easy to end up with a stack of appointments that don't really seem to be going anywhere.

Funding is just the vehicle. The real point is helping people become more independent, move with confidence, stay active, improve function and keep doing the things they enjoy. That's what we focus on, regardless of how someone is funded.

Good Physiotherapy Should Create Meaningful Change

Physiotherapy isn't simply turning up every few weeks and ticking a box. If the work isn't actually changing something for you — strength, mobility, confidence, what you can do at home — then it's hard to argue it's doing its job.

The aim is helping people:

  • Build strength
  • Improve mobility
  • Reduce falls risk
  • Increase confidence
  • Improve everyday function
  • Maintain independence for as long as possible

Nobody wants to become dependent on healthcare services. Most people simply want to stay capable enough to keep living life on their terms.

NDIS Physiotherapy Hervey Bay

Physiotherapy can play an important role for NDIS participants who want to improve how they move, what they can do day to day, and how confident they feel doing it. The work is highly individual — what makes a meaningful difference for one participant looks completely different to the next — but the underlying goals are usually similar.

Physiotherapy can help participants:

  • Improve mobility
  • Build strength
  • Improve balance
  • Increase confidence
  • Reduce falls risk
  • Improve physical capacity
  • Increase participation in meaningful activities
  • Improve independence

Physiotherapy may be appropriate for people living with:

  • Neurological conditions
  • Physical disabilities
  • Mobility impairments
  • Developmental conditions
  • Persistent pain conditions
  • Age-related mobility challenges

Depending on goals, sessions may include:

  • Strength and conditioning programs
  • Functional exercise programs
  • Falls prevention
  • Mobility assessments
  • Walking programs
  • Equipment recommendations
  • Home exercise programs
  • Education for participants and their support networks

Sessions can be delivered in the clinic, via home visits where appropriate, or via telehealth where it's the right fit. Whatever the setting, the programs are individualised and built around the participant's goals — not a one-size-fits-all template.

Support at Home Physiotherapy

The Support at Home program has replaced the former Home Care Package program, and physiotherapy continues to play a meaningful role for older adults across Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast who want to keep living well at home.

The aim is usually pretty practical — helping older adults:

  • Maintain independence
  • Improve strength
  • Improve balance
  • Stay active
  • Reduce falls risk
  • Continue living safely at home

When we ask people what they actually want, the answers are rarely complicated. They want to walk confidently. Travel. Keep gardening. Play with the grandkids. Stay out of residential care for as long as possible. That's the work — keeping people strong enough, steady enough and confident enough to keep doing the things that make life worth living.

This sits naturally alongside our broader healthy ageing approach and the Built To Last philosophy — that strength is the most important thing most older adults aren't doing enough of. For more on age-specific care, see our Geriatric Physiotherapy page.

DVA Physiotherapy

We see veterans across Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast under DVA arrangements for a wide range of issues. Physiotherapy may assist with:

  • Arthritis
  • Persistent pain
  • Mobility issues
  • Balance problems
  • Strength loss
  • Rehabilitation after injury or surgery

The focus is practical — maintaining function, preserving independence, and helping you stay capable of the things you actually want to keep doing.

Medicare Chronic Condition Management Plans

Some people living with chronic health conditions may be eligible for Medicare-subsidised physiotherapy sessions through their GP. Eligibility and rebates are determined by Medicare and your GP, so if you're unsure whether you qualify, that's a conversation to have with them first.

Within those sessions, physiotherapy can help with:

  • Mobility
  • Exercise
  • Strength
  • Pain management
  • Improving confidence and function

WorkCover Physiotherapy

Work injuries are frustrating and disruptive. They affect your income, your routine, and your confidence — often well beyond the injury itself. We work with people across Pialba and the Fraser Coast to:

  • Recover from injury
  • Restore movement
  • Rebuild strength
  • Return to meaningful activity
  • Return to work confidently

Good rehab should prepare you for the actual demands of your job, not just settle symptoms enough for you to limp back in. A tradie's body has to handle different loads to an office worker's — and the rehab has to reflect that.

We Focus On Function

Our approach is the same regardless of funding source:

  1. Listen. Understand the person and what actually matters to them — not just the diagnosis on the referral.
  2. Assess. Identify the real barriers to movement and function.
  3. Build Capacity. Improve strength, mobility and confidence in a way the body can sustain.
  4. Create A Practical Plan. Focus on meaningful outcomes and long-term independence, not endless appointments.

Why Strength Matters

Strength quietly underpins almost everything that matters as we get older or live with a long-term condition. Strength influences independence. It influences confidence. It influences falls risk. It influences quality of life. People who maintain their strength keep their options open. People who lose it tend to lose options with it.

We're fortunate to have direct access to a premium strength and conditioning facility at LIFT, right here in Hervey Bay. That means rehab doesn't have to stop at theraband exercises and lounge-room circuits. When you're ready, we can progress into proper strength-based programs in a properly equipped gym — the kind of work that genuinely prepares people for everyday life, not just for the next appointment.

For a lot of the people we see under NDIS, Support at Home, DVA, Medicare and WorkCover funding, this is the part that ends up making the biggest long-term difference.
